Penn State Harrisburg students will receive a first-hand look at “Life at a Real IT Company” April 17 from representatives of the multi-national Versatile Systems.
Coordinated by the Innovation Transfer Network, the presentation is focused on providing career advice and the challenges of working at a technology-focused corporation.
The presenters from Versatile Systems for the session involving students majoring in Computer Science, Mathematical Sciences, Information Systems, and Information Sciences and Technology will be Bill Kratzer and Andy Galeano. Among the topics they will share with the students are: what they do on the job each day, what software technologies are gaining steam, and what they look for in college students seeking employment.
Kratzer is a software architect with 13 years of professional software development experience specializing in enterprise systems integration in Java/C/C++. Galeano is a software developer with 11 years of experience. Web application Java development is his primary focus along with developing in C/C++ as well. Some of their customers include Penn State, General Electric, CitiFinancial, HSBC, CSC, Motorola, Astra Zeneca, and the School District of Philadelphia.
Versatile Systems, with an office in Harrisburg, is a technology provider that creates software tools to revolutionize the way retailers manage their sales processes, with particular focus on the mobile worker.
