


MIDDLETOWN, PA - Fall 2008 was a season of distinction for five different Penn State Harrisburg sports teams& men´s and women´s cross country, men´s and women´s soccer, and women´s volleyball. In only their third year as a program, men´s and women´s cross country has seen its share of mental and physical victories on the course and this year proved to be no more different. Hosting, the first ever, Penn State Harrisburg Invitational, the Lions were able to strut their stuff with the men winning the overall team race with Mark Minns (Northern York/Lemoyne, PA), RJ Wawrzyniakowski (Williams Valley/Tower City, PA), Scott Sinner (Central Dauphin/Harrisburg, PA) and Kenton Alston (Steelton-Highspire/Steelton, PA) placing in the top five as well as women runners, Ashley Gruber (Central Dauphin/Harrisburg, PA) and Christi Renno (East Juniata/Richfield, PA), placing in the top five in their respected race. GANSEVOORT, NY - The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announces student-athlete of the week selection for week ending Sunday, November 23, 2008 in the sport of women´s basketball. Sandra Adames (Pontiac, MI) was selected as the NEAC Women´s Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week. Adames, a 5´11" senior center for the Penn State University - Harrisburg Nittany Lions, was selected for her strong offensive performance for the week leading her team to a 3-0 week. Adames finished the week with 62 points (20.7/game), 51 rebound (17.0/game), 13 blocks (4.33/game), 7 steal, 1 assist, 14-for-18 from the free throw line (.778 from the line), and a .500 shooting percentage. Adames led her team to the Holiday Inn Harrisburg East Tip-Off Tournament Championship and earned the tournament MVP trophy for her performance. Click here for the full story.
MIDDLETOWN, PA - For four years the Penn State Harrisburg Lady Lions have been waiting to
be called champions. At 4:00 pm on November 22nd the blue and white were crowd champions of the Holiday Inn
Harrisburg East tip-off tournament. Head coach Ross Patrick could not have started his first season any better
with his Lady Lions going 3-0 for the first time in school history. With Polytechnic University beating Penn
College, 57-43, in the first matchup, Penn State Harrisburg took on the Chargers of Lancaster Bible College. Coming
off her excellent performance against Penn State Mont Alto, Sandra Adames (Pontiac Northern/Pontiac, MI)
continue her hot shooting against the Chargers going 12 for 15 from the field, scoring 26 points, grabbing 14 rebounds,
with 3 steals and blocking 4 shots in 31 minutes, helping the Lady Lions cruise to victory, 55-39.
