Welcome to the Teacher Education and Certification Program offered at the Capital College, Penn State Harrisburg. If you are interested in pursuing certification in Elementary Education, Secondary English, Mathematics or Social Studies; Reading Specialist; or as a Principal, you are invited and encouraged to examine this web site.

Baccalaureate degree programs are offered in Elementary Education with an Early Childhood option, English, Secondary Education, Mathematical Science with a Secondary Education option, and Secondary Social Studies Education. In addition, certification programs in Secondary English, Secondary Mathematics, Secondary Social Studies, and Early Childhood Education are available to qualified individuals who hold a baccalaureate degree in a related field. Reading Specialist and Principal certifications are also available as post-baccalaureate programs. Successful completion of one of the baccalaureate degree programs or the certification programs, and the required Praxis I and Praxis II tests will result in a recommendation for certification to the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
