Accommodation

Hearing Impaired Handicapped

Penn State encourages persons with disabilities to participate in its programs and activities. If you are a graduating student with a disability that requires assistance at commencement, please notify the Office of Disability Services (Alan Babcock, 717-948-6025 or aub15@psu.edu) to make arrangements for the commencement ceremony at least four weeks prior to the ceremony.

Reserved Parking

Handicap parking is available in the lot in front of the Giant Center for vehicles with handicap plates or placards. If you do not have a handicap plate or placard, you may drop off a person with limited mobility closer to the Giant Center entrance before parking in the general parking lot.

Please note that the Giant Center is quite large, and the distances between parking and the building entrance and within the building may be impediments to persons who have difficulty walking. Please plan on additional time to walk these distances.

Reserved Seating

Interpreter

Reserved seating sections are available for guests with limited mobility. Specially designated areas in Sections 116, 117, 120, 124, and 125 are for guests in wheelchairs. Please make reservations in advance if you have guests who wish to use this space (call 717-948-6002). One companion seat is allotted per guest in a wheelchair. The last two rows (topmost) of seats in Sections 118, 119, 121, and 123 are also reserved for guests who have difficulty climbing steps.

Interpreter Services

Sign language interpreters (using American Sign Language) will be available for commencement. Guests who are deaf or hard of hearing and need priority seating must make arrangements for reserved seating (call 717-948-6002). Sight lines for the interpreters are excellent from many locations in general seating.
