Geoffrey Conklin, a recent graduate of Penn State University Harrisburg, is currently working in a juvenile justice program as a counselor and resident advisor at the Weaversville Intensive Treatment Unit - a maximum-security facility for boys ages 15 to 19. Geoff, 22, enjoys playing basketball and baseball, as well as watching and rooting for his favorite Philadelphia teams. Geoff loves weekend trips to the ballpark and lists Philadelphia’s Veteran Stadium as his favorite hangout. Although he is not currently working in his preferred field of journalism, Geoff’s goal is to eventually become a sports writer at a local daily newspaper. His dream job would be to write for Sports Illustrated or be an anchor on Sports Center. As a child in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Geoff played seven years of little league and attended Lehigh University’s basketball camp every summer. In 1994, Geoff and a friend attended the University of Iowa’s basketball camp where Geoff swears he learned the trash he constantly talks on the court. He lists his most embarrassing moment as the time he was riding his bike in front of a group of girls he liked and his sweatpants became stuck in the bike chain, ripping his pants off. Geoff is very knowledgeable in sports trivia, hip-hop and oldies music, and other useless information that does him no good unless he ever appears on a game. An interesting fact about Geoff that few people know is that he has entire conversations with his pit bull Molly; and he sings whenever he is alone. He says the best things that ever happened to him were accepting Jesus Christ into his heart and being raised in a good family. He would like to throw meeting his girlfriend Julie on the list of “best things” so she does not get mad at him.
