Stichler bills himself as a “loyal realist” in this regard. He could root for the New York Yankees, who have won 26 World Series championships, but he regards them as “the epitome of everything that is evil.” He stands by his Red Sox, and every year, no matter how well they are playing, he knows what is coming. “Every year the downfall comes in June or July,” he said. Stichler, 28, is a native of Palmyra, Pa. He has been a sports fan his entire life. He is a communications major at Penn State Harrisburg in Middletown, Pa. and is interested in advertising. Stichler will graduate in May 2003, “by the graces of God,” he said. Stichler expressed his short-term goal in this way, “I want to find a good job where I can sit down.”. But eventually he would like to combine his love of sports with his interest in advertising and public relations. “It would be great to do P.R. work for the Red Sox,” he said. Jason Stichler’s loyalty and dedication gained through years of supporting the hapless Boston Red Sox will no doubt carry over to his professional life. And maybe, he may see his team win the World Series. |
