Catching a wave and investigating a good lead to a breaking news story are only a few of Julia Danner’s interests in life. Danner has always been fascinated with the ocean and so this past summer and in the summer of 2002, she and her fiancé decided to live in Ocean City Maryland. Danner’s fiancé, Dustin McKeever, has a year-round job, so he stayed in order to get themselves established down there at the beach. “We both love the beach and we have decided that is where we want to stay,” Danner said.

Danner and her fiancé plan on getting married on January 10th, 2004. “I am still in the process of making a scrap book

of Dustin and myself,” Danner said. "It includes pictures and movie tickets, etc. from the time we started dating in January 2001." She is also collecting song lyrics for the wedding. “I have so many songs picked out - we'll need 2 days for the reception just to play them all,” Danner said. They are both very excited for the big day.

Some of her hobbies include dancing, going to the beach, and learning to surf. She tried surfing during both summers while staying in Ocean City. Danner has been pretty scared of the surfing but never stops trying. “I'm going to keep trying until I get over my fears of surfing,” Danner said. "It's starting to get pretty cold but Dustin has all the gear ready to go out in cold water. Dustin has been surfing every day and he loves it! I want to be a part of that as well," she said.

Danner also likes to dance. She started at the age 4 and then moved to Dillsburg and started at her Aunt's dance school, DeJul, through age 19. She danced up until two years ago when she had to quit because of her school and work schedule. “I would like to get back into it once I am in a permanent place,” Danner said. "Even if I don't perform in public, I would like to do it just because dance is my passion in life and its one thing no one can take away from me. It's also great exercise," she said.

Her interest in writing and journalism was sparked by a curriculum change that offered journalism at her high school, which she decided to take. The school also offered a newspaper club which Danner joined. Mr. Toren, her journalism teacher, greatly influenced her decision to go into writing. “He was awesome, I learned a lot in that class,” Danner said. My mom was a big influence and encouraged me to explore writing as a career. Mr. Toren also told me that if I didn't go to college to be a journalist, that he would hunt me down,” she said. So then she decided to go to college for writing. Danner wants to be a journalist or at this point, get any kind of job in which she can write in. “I've also gained an interest in either event planning of some sort, or a communications position in a hospital or school,” Danner said. She plans on graduating in December of 2003.
