Optoelectronics / Communications Laboratory (Room E243)

The Optoelectronics / Communications laboratory is located in Room E243 of the Olmsted Building and is the newest laboratory. It has 1000 square feet of floor space divided into two rooms of 750 square feet and 250 square feet. The larger portion is used as a general-purpose laboratory as well as an optoelectronic communications laboratory. The smaller area has a black out window shade so that measurements on light sensitive optoelectronic experiments may be made in almost total darkness. This laboratory has a fairly wide assortment of optoelectronic measuring equipment, optoelectronic transmitters and receivers and a large assortment of fiber optic cables. A general communications laboratory uses this laboratory space, too. We have just purchased a machine to make high frequency printed circuits for the high-frequency communications laboratory experiments.
