Environmental Pollution Control Program

Program and Degree Requirements

Program of Study

The graduate student, in close consultation with their adviser, is expected to develop a Program of Study (POS) by the end of the first semester. The POS is a chronological listing of the courses the student plans to take to fulfill degree requirements. Each POS is unique to the individual student and should be tailored to meet his/her career goals and objectives. A copy of the approved POS is to be submitted to the Environmental Pollution Control (EPC) Office for placement in the student’s file. A POS form is presented in Appendix A.

A POS is required so that no student proceeds without advice on a specific plan. Since a POS is developed quite early, a student has the opportunity to modify his/her plan. Modifications of an approved POS must be approved by the faculty adviser and the EPC Chair. If a student’s POS deviates from the academic course requirements for the particular graduate degree, then the student must submit a Petition to the EPC Chair prior to enrolling in courses not specifically approved for meeting degree requirements. The POS forms can be obtained from the EPC Program Office.
