Before using the program to connect to HBG wireless network, the client must be set to the wireless adapter. To set the connection type select "Options" -> "Connection Type" -> [Your Wireless Adapter] from menu from the bottom of the screen. After an adapter change, the client requires a PDA restart in order for the changes to take effect.  Follow your manufacturers instructions for restarting the device.

Instructions for creating a new policy:

1. After the installation of the AnthaVPN client, Open Antha VPN (found in the Programs menu)

2. Tap on the Policy Editor under the Policy menu

3. Double tap on Policy 1 (You may wish to change the name to something more descriptive,for example, PSU-HBG)

4. Change the Gateway type to Cisco VPN Concentrator

5.Change the Gateway address to 172.28.121.2

6. Change Gateway dropdown menu to account

• Auth Type: Username and Password
• Group name: pennstate
• Group Password: pennstate
• Username and password are your individual PSU account name

7. Change the Account drop down menu to IKE Proposals

• Change the group to Group1
• Change the Cipher to 3DES
• Change the Hash to MD5
• IKE Lifetime (min) should be at the maximum allowed

8. Change the IKE proposals drop down menu to IPSEC Properties

• Change the Group to Group2
• Change the Cipher to 3DES
• Change the Hash to MD5
• Change the IPSEC Lifetime (h) to 1

9. Tap OK and save your changes

10. Tap again on the Policy menu and tap to place a checkmark at the new policy

11. Tap Ok and tap between the picture of the router and the PDA

12. Connection should establish

13. If a window asks for your password and ID again, enter your PSU ID and password and tap OK

Before you configure ANTHAVPN software, you will need to make sure your wireless device is set to expect DHCP communication (i.e. it expects to be assigned an IP address by the VPN server).

The precise configuration will depend on the networking card you have installed. However, some general advice does apply. After you've installed the VPN client using instructions from the vendor that apply to your palmtop and your desktop OS, go to Preferences -> Connection to configure your network connections. Select ANTHAVPN . Then select Edit . Again, depending on the networking card, your selection may vary, but it will be "IPSEC to" something. (Consult the Movian documentation for more specifics.) Next, under Preferences -> Network , select the ANTHAVPN connection.

After installing the anthaVPN software:

1. Open the System Preferences by tapping on the Prefs icon


2. In the Preferences window, tap on the VPN option under the Communication section.


3. Assign a policy name such as "HBG Connection" From the "Please select one" drop list, select Cisco VPN Concentrator 3000 . In the Gateway Address text box type: mobility1.hbg.psu.edu

   • Extended Authentication should be checked, Leave Use Perfect Forward Secrecy unchecked




4. Click Next (the arrow button).


5. In this screen, complete the entries as follows:

Group Name: pennstate
Group Password : pennstate
User Name: [Use your Network ID.]


6. Tap the IKE button. The entries should be set to:
   Group : GRP1_DH-768
   Cipher : 3DES_CBC
   Hash : MD5

   Should be the default entries. If not, change them as needed and tap Continue .

7. Tap the IPSec button.
   

   The entry should be set to:

   ESPIP_3DES_MD5-96

   Should be the default option. If not, change it as needed and tap Continue .

8. Click the Done button. You should return to the main ANTHAVPN window, and your new profile should be available in the list of profiles.

9. Click the Login button.

10. When prompted for a password, supply your Network ID password.
