- Install the Cisco VPN Client.
Download
the Cisco Virtual Private Network(VPN) software which establishes
a secure connection between your laptop and Penn State's VPN
Concentrator and enables you to access the Internet and PSU
networking resources such as PASS, Elion, Portal and Webmail.
It is not necessary to have the Cisco
Virtual Private Network (VPN) software installed to download the
Cisco Virtual Private Network VPN software. The above link
will allow you to download the VPN software without needing to
have the VPN software installed.
The link to download the VPN software is:
https://www.work.psu.edu/access/vpn and can be accessed
directly using the wireless network and configuring your
wireless network adapter to connect to the "pennstate" (without
the quotes) network ID.

adapter to connect to the "pennstate" network ID are here.
- Click on Windows V 4.8.01. and enter your
Penn State user ID and password.
- Save to a convenient location such as your Desktop.
- Install the Cisco VPN
.- Click on the file you have just downloaded (vpnclient.win.exe)
and double click on it.
- Run the setup and carefully read the license agreement before
proceeding.
- Save to the default folder or browse to desired folder and
remember the location.
- Choose the option to restart your computer. (Note:
Rebooting will close the browser window so Bookmark this page
or remember the site address)
- Configure the Cisco VPN
- Go to Start -->All Programs--> Cisco Systems VPN Client
--> choose VPN Client
- For easier use you can create a shortcut on the desktop by right
clicking on the VPN client icon -->Sent to -->Desktop.
- Open VPN Client, from the list choose "ITS Wireless
at Harrisburg" and on the top hit Connect.
- Enter your Penn State User ID and Password, and then you
are connected.
- Disconnect the VPN client when you are done by right clicking
on VPN Client icon and choose Disconnect.
