Admission requirements for First-year students:

First-year student decisions are based on several combined factors:

Admission criteria change from year to year. Therefore, there is no one set of statistics that students can use to predict their own admissibility to Penn State.

Freshman admission application is done by completing the University application on the Penn State web site. Freshmen are accepted to the university and the college that offer the student’s potential major. Freshman must review the major’s admission requirements related to credit hours, GPA, course selection, and the application process to enter into the major. The freshman may choose or are assigned a different Penn State campus then Harrisburg for the first and/or second year. The student wishing to relocate to Harrisburg may obtain and complete a change of assignment form available at their campus location.

Freshmen are students who hold a high school diploma or equivalent or who present FEWER than 18 credits of college work.


Admission requirements for transfer students:

Applicants must have earned high school diplomas or the equivalent and have attempted at LEAST 18 semester credits at a regionally accredited college or university with at least a 2.0 cumulative grade-point average (4.0 scale). The evaluation of prior college work is done on an individual bases by the office of Enrollment Services at Penn State Harrisburg. A transfer student will complete the University application on the Penn State web site.

Change-of-Assignment/Re-enrollment:

A current Penn State student at another campus who wishes to relocate to Harrisburg may obtain and complete a change of assignment form available at their campus location Registrar's office. The completed form will be sent to Harrisburg for their review.
Associate degree students who intend to complete their associate degree and plan to pursue the SDCET degree should file a re-enrollment form during the final semester of their program. Students re-enrolling from an Associate degree into the bachelor's degree should run a degree audit from eLion, using the SDCET major code, to determine their curriculum requirements.
Penn State students who are not currently enrolled at Penn State must re- enroll for admission. The student will complete the University application on the Penn State web site.

Change-of-Major/Entry into Major:

A student who has completed a minimum of 18 credits with a 2.0 GPA may be accepted in to the SDCET major. A current Penn State student may obtain and complete a change of major assignment form available at their campus location Registrar's office. The student must declare the option they wish to pursue in the SDCET major (Construction, Structural Design, or General). The student who is not at Harrisburg must also obtain and complete the change of assignment form.
Students attending another university will apply to Penn State Harrisburg with the SDCET major and declare their option. The college will review the application for the major entrance requirements.
