Penn State Harrisburg has announced the recipients of the college’s annual Alumni Achievement Awards. One graduate from each of the college’s five academic schools earned the accolade thanks to their outstanding professional accomplishments.

Yonatan Tewelde, assistant teaching professor of media production and broadcast in Penn State Harrisburg’s School of Humanities, received the 2021 Kenneth Harwood Outstanding Dissertation Award at the annual Broadcast Education Association’s International Conference and Awards Ceremony in April.

The Center for Holocaust and Jewish Studies at Penn State Harrisburg will host Marion Kaplan on Wednesday, Sept. 22 at noon. Kaplan will discuss her book “Hitler’s Jewish Refugees: Hope and Anxiety in Portugal.”
Penn State Harrisburg’s School of Humanities and School of Public Affairs will host a Constitution Day webinar beginning at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 17 with lectures from academics including Jay Dow, professor of political science and Kinder Institute on Constitutional Democracy Faculty Fellow of the University of Missouri.
“Hear Me Ohio” by Jen Hirt, associate professor of creative writing and composition, won "silver" in the adult nonfiction essay category of the 2020 Foreword INDIES Book of the Year contest.
Six Penn State Harrisburg students received University Libraries research awards and two received research award honorable mentions as part of the recent Penn State Harrisburg Library virtual Research Poster Exhibition. Fifteen students participated in the event.
